Westmoreland is located in Cheshire County, New Hampshire.  It is bordered by the Connecticut River on the west.  Bordering the town on the east is Hyland Hill, a hunting and hiking destination.

Westmoreland was incorporated in 1752.  The town was first named Great Meadows and later named Westmoreland, honoring John Fane, the 7th Earl of Westmorland.  The town was mostly an agricultural town, but had also established small industries during the late 1700’s through the 1800’s.

Westmoreland is home to some historic sites, including the Park Hill Meeting House, which was built in 1762 and has a Paul Revere bell. The Park Hill Meeting house was renovated in 1826.

Westmoreland is home to High Hopes Orchard Farm Adventures Park.  This park offers a variety of activities including apple picking, rides and events.

Westmoreland is comprised of 35.9 square miles of land and one square mile of water.  According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, the town’s population at the time included 1,749 people, 445 families and 576 households.  The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.92.
