Sutton is located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. It was settled in 1748 as Perrystown and re-granted in 1784 as Sutton. It is named for its second group of settlers from Sutton Massachusetts.
Sutton is home to the 43-acre Wadleigh State Beach, located off of Route 114. It offers recreational opportunities such as swimming, fishing and picnicking.
According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Sutton was home to 1,544 residents. This included 621 households and 457 families. The average family size was 2.88 and the average household size was 2.47. Sutton is comprised of 42.3 square miles of land and 0.8 square miles of water.
