Middleton is located in Strafford County, New Hampshire. It is home to Sun Rise Lake, a mile-long lake that offers boating, fishing and swimming at John’s Beach. Automotive ice races are held on the lake in the winter. Middleton is also home to the highest point of the Mouse Mountains, which separate the town from Brookfield. Middleton was settled just before the Revolutionary War and was incorporated in 1778. It originally included the town of Brookfield, and was the location of Colonial Governor Wentworth’s summer home, Kingswood. The first town hall was built in 1795 as a meeting house. It was moved to its current location in 1812. Middleton Real Estate and Homes: In 2000, there were 707 homes and an average of 39 homes (houses / condos) per square mile. In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Middleton was comprised of a total of 953 homes. This included 836 single family homes and 20 multi-unit homes. |
